With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a number of academic qualifications have been relegated to the dungeon of academic history due to the sheer prowess of AI in comparison to human input. One of these degrees is news writing.

Many media houses are now cutting costs by reducing the number of news writers and replacing them with chatbots that write at high speed and with limited to zero grammatical errors. This has been a heavy blow to many media practitioners who have found themselves jobless due to the rise of AI.

News reporters too are not safe, as the emergence of video-generating AI tools—like the talk-of-the-town Google VEO 3—has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between a real and fake person. Media houses are now using AI-generated videos to report the news, replacing the traditional human news anchor.

Not only that, but many people are now turning to ChatGPT—a role that, back then, would have been filled by a therapist. Because these AI tools are often free compared to therapists who charge hefty prices, people now prefer to consult AI for emotional support, advice, or even mental health-related queries, often at the expense of professionally qualified therapists.

Lawyers too are not safe. AI has made it easier for people to consult, lay out their cases, and receive preliminary legal guidance. In many cases, individuals can now weigh the prospects of pursuing a legal battle without paying the high consultation fees that lawyers demand.

Graphic designers and website designers are also under threat, as their work is being replaced by AI. What used to take hours—or even days—for a designer to create, such as a beautiful logo or flyer, can now be done in seconds. Stunning designs are now just a prompt away.
